Highlights

The Expert Advisory Panel on Breast Implants met in Ottawa on September 29 and 30, 2005. The first day of the meeting included presentations from Health Canada and two manufacturers of the products and a time set aside for Panel members to hear directly from Canadians. The second day was held in camera for Panel members to deliberate on what they heard and to prepare advice based on the questions posed to them by Heath Canada. The questions related to the safety and effectiveness of silicone gel-filled breast implants.

  • The Expert Advisory Panel has now submitted its report to Health Canada.

Labelling of Unpasteurized Fruit Juice / Cider
Thank you for participating in the consultation. The session closed on December 16, 2005 and Health Canada is now analyzing the responses. A summary of the analysis will be posted in Spring 2006, along with the next steps.

Online Consultation on Canada's Food Guide Revision

Measures to help ensure Canadians’ continued access to an adequate supply of safe and affordable drugs (Internet Consultation)
Thank you for participating in Health Canada's consultations regarding proposed measures to help ensure Canadians' continued access to an adequate supply of safe and affordable drugs. The consultation session closed on November 7, 2005. Health Canada will gather input sent through the Web, mail and e-mail, and will be developing two comprehensive reports of stakeholders' feedback.There will be one report on the proposed Drug Supply Network and the export restriction scheme, and the other a report on the proposed requirement for an established patient-practitioner relationship. The input received will help Health Canada optimize the drug supply network and to draft legislation and regulatory amendments to respond effectively to the needs of Canadians.

Regional Discussions on the National Youth and Young Adult Framework for Action on Tobacco Control
