Tax tipMarch 10, 2005 No penalties for you!Did you know... You may have neglected to file an income tax return for a tax year and you owe money to the Crown. If so, you can make a voluntary disclosure, and you will only have to pay taxes owing, plus interest. You will not be charged any penalties and you will not be prosecuted, as long as your disclosure is complete and includes information that is at least one year past due. To take advantage of this service, you must come forward before the Canada Revenue Agency has started an audit, investigation, or other enforcement action. For more information on voluntary disclosures, visit: www.cra.gc.ca/voluntarydisclosures. This document is also available for download in .pdf format. |
