Credit the caregiver

Did you know...

If you are looking after an elderly parent or infirm child or relative in your home, you may be able to claim the caregiver amount.

To claim this credit, the dependent must be a relative by blood, marriage, common-law partnership, or adoption, must be over 18 at the time he or she lived with you, and have income of less than $16,172. This amount relates to the federal credit. The provincial and territorial income threshold and credit amounts may vary. You should carefully review the other conditions that apply before claiming this amount.
