  • Discovering Dinosaurs!

University of Alberta paleontologist, Philip Currie, was part of the team that recently unveiled the biggest meat-eating dinosaur known to have walked the earth. Named Mapusaurus rosea, this new species measured up to 12.5 metres in length. The remains, found in a 100-year-old stone in southern Argentina, took five years to excavate. Closer to home, dino-lovers can uncover their own pre-historic facts at dino-attractions listed in Find a Museum. These include the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History, Montreal’s Redpath Museum, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the Royal Tyrrell Museum, and many more. According to the new Random House Dinosaur Travel Guide, they rank among the best in the world. Online, you can also try your hand at the Trace Fossil Mystery or Dig This! The Cretaceous Period.
