Privacy

The Government of Canada and the Department of Justice are committed to respecting the personal privacy of individuals who visit our Web sites. The following summarizes the privacy policy and practices of the Department of Justice's Web sites.

  • The Department of Justice does not automatically gather any personal information from you, such as your name, phone number or e-mail address. On various sections of the Department of Justice's Web sites, you can choose to correspond via e-mail or by completing feedback forms.   • Information on individual visitors is used by employees of the Department of Justice who need the information in order to respond to your request or to ensure the security of this system.   • All personal information created, held or collected by the Department of Justice is protected under the federal Privacy Act.   • The Department of Justice occasionally uses temporary "cookies" to facilitate your Web use. The cookies we use do not allow us to identify individuals, and are used, for example, to determine your language preferences. They exist in your browser's temporary memory and are deleted when you close your browser. Some applications available through the Internet site will not work properly if you choose to disable all cookies.   • The Department of Justice employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or otherwise cause damage. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected.
