Procedure for Submission of Canadian CFHT Proposals

Absolute Deadline:


  • CFHT Proposals for Semester 2007-A (1 February 2007 to 31 July 2007) will be accepted until 4 p.m. (Pacific Time) on 21 September 2006.
  • Please describe how you would change your proposal, in order to handle unsatisfactory observing conditions.

Submission Procedures:

Only Web submission is possible, using POOPSY: http://cadc.hia.nrc.gc.ca/poopsy/obsprop.html

Web submission queries should be sent to poopsy@cfht.hawaii.edu.

Reasonable electronic size:

Referees start to encounter printer problems when asked to referee a proposal exceeding 2.1 Megabytes. Try to decrease the size of your figures, and/or to supply to the reader with a WWW address where the figures can be seen at high-resolution and in colour (if applicable). Colour figures are not used by CTAC (only black and white).

If you do not receive an acknowledgement within three working days (excluding Sat. & Sunday), contact NRC's Dr. J.P. Vallée.

Important Considerations:

Page limits: The scientific justification is now limited to a single page of text (not including references). Investigators proposing a large program (requesting 5 or more nights in a single semester from a single agency) may append two additional pages on their experimental design.

Warning from CTAC: ''Incomplete proposals (missing source list, missing RAxDec, missing list of papers published from CFHT data) may be held up in the selection process.''
