![]() What's New?In the spirit of continuous improvement in the way it manages its operations, the Department of Justice Canada is moving forward with the implementation of a more systematic approach to identifying and screening potential legal agents of the Attorney General of Canada. As a result, the Department of Justice Canada is inviting qualified law firms across Canada to express their interest in being considered for potential appointments as legal agents of the Attorney General of Canada in a variety of practice areas, with the exclusion of federal prosecution work. Our purpose in extending this invitation is threefold: to broaden and facilitate access to federal legal work opportunities to all interested law firms; to promote government contracting principles of value and fairness in legal agent appointment practices; and to ensure that Canadians are best served by government access to a broad pool of available and competent law firms. Through correspondence, the posting of notices in legal trade publications, and information disseminated by law societies and bar associations, qualified law firms are being invited to consult the website for details regarding the qualifying criteria as well as the process to be followed in submitting an Expression of Interest.
