ADOPTIONS
FROM AFAR
Last year, Canadians adopted 1,871 children from foreign countries.
And you can bet that none of them attracted the same fuss
as this week's tale of the Material Girl and the Malawian
baby. Underlying the whole Madonna adoption story, is one
of those uncomfortable questions: Should white parents be
adopting black children? Should society encourage or discourage
interracial adoption? To find out, Evan sat down with three
people of different racial backgrounds who were all adopted
by white families.
LIBERAL LEADERSHIP
CANDIDATES: BOB RAE
In early December, the Liberals in this country will choose
their new leader - the person they hope will be able to take
the country back from Stephen Harper's conservatives. There
are eight contenders for the Liberal leadership. Today marks
the first of a series of interviews with the frontrunning
candidates, this week former New Democrat premier of Ontario
Bob Rae, who now wants to lead the country.

POLITICAL
PANEL
We review the week's political developments south of the border,
where the upcoming mid-term elections have Republicans worried
they'll lose control of both the U.S. Senate and the House
of Representatives, while Hollywood stars like Michael J.
Fox weigh in with their views on stem-cell research.
SUPERNATURAL HOLLYWOOD
For most of us, the whole idea of horror comes from the movies.
So, with Halloween fast approaching, we thought we'd ask some
movie stars for their thoughts on the supernatural, to see
which celebrities believe in ghosts.
JAMES
MCGREEVEY
The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that same-sex
couples must be afforded the same rights as opposite-sex couples,
but it left it up to the state legislature to decide whether
those rights would be described as marriage - or something
else. Watching the news closely was former New Jersey governor
Jim McGreevey, who resigned in August of 2004 after admitting
that he was gay and had had an affair with a male employee,
Golan Cipel. We caught up with McGreevey, who had kept his
sexuality tightly guarded during his political career, even
at one point voting against same-sex marriage legislation.
NATIVE VETS
We take a spiritual journey with a Navaho Native American,
a veteran of the Vietnam war whose father fought in World
War II, as he helps other native vets from the both Vietnam
and Iraq wars find solace from the trauma of battle through
native spirituality.
