CCM Massey-Harris Bicycle poster,ca 1899.This poster was produced in France when the CCM was marketing its bicycle products in Europe. (CSTM)

The bicycle continues to play an important role in the lives of Canadians. More Canadians today own bicycles than at any other point in time. After almost two centuries, producers continue to develop new materials and manufacturing techniques. The versatility of the design of the modern safety bicycle has helped it spread throughout the limited impact on the environment, bicycles will undoubtedly play a greater role in our daily lives in the future. To preserve its legacy, the Museum plans to continue actively collecting past and current examples of this fascinating and highly popular machine.
