The National Gallery of Canada acquires and maintains the country’s finest collection of art. Housed in a structure of splendid design overlooking Parliament Hill and the Ottawa River, the collection is accessible through on-site visits, an extensive touring program, and through CyberMuse – the Gallery’s award-winning interactive Web site. Our national treasure is generously supported by the Friends of the National Gallery of Canada – members who cherish the Gallery and take pride in its scholastic excellence, its artistic achievements, and its vision for the future.
Appreciation of Canada’s collections begins at an early age. Inquisitive children and their parents can experience art in an engaging environment through a multitude of programs developed for visitors of all ages and interests.
As a member of our larger family you will enjoy the many amenities that both the Gallery and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography offer – free admission to the permanent collection and all special exhibitions, discounts at the Bookstore, delicious food in the Gallery’s restaurants, ample indoor parking. Introduce your children, friends, and family to the extraordinary and vibrant diversity of artistic expression with which we are so richly endowed.
