Programs for Special Needs
The Gallery offers a variety of tours and studio programs for visitors who are visually or hearing impaired or who have intellectual or multiple disabilities. Programs are available thanks to the generous support of the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation.  Galleries and facilities are accessible to wheelchairs.

Registration required three weeks in advance. (613) 990-4888 or reservations@gallery.ca.

Public Programs
In the Studio is a thematic two-hour program for groups
of adults with physical or cognitive/language disabilities,
as well as those who are blind, visually impaired, deaf,
hard of hearing, or living with mental illness. The program
consists of a Gallery tour designed around a specific
theme, followed by a related hands-on studio workshop.
Guided Visits are stimulating interactive programs that
last up to an hour, depending on the needs and interests
of the group.

Tactile Tours for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired
Hands On is an innovative two-hour program designed
to acquaint people who are blind or visually impaired with
works from the permanent collection. A specially trained
guide assists participants in developing their ability to
construct mental images of works of art through touch
and interactive discussion.

Programs for Adults Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Subject to availability, ASL and LSQ interpretation is
available for National Gallery and CMCP programs
for people with special needs. A portable audio-loop
system is available for regularly scheduled tours and
studio activities.
