For the protection of your personal information while using our on-line services, we are implementing an enhanced level of identity proving. Please follow the steps described below. My VAC AccountBefore you begin, it's important to know that each screen has a time limit of 20 minutes. A warning will appear if you are about to time-out. The time-out is a security feature which protects the privacy of our clients who access this system on a shared computer terminal. Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) takes the security of your personal information seriously. To ensure your protection, VAC has implemented a rigorous identification process using epass Canada (the Government of Canada's secure access provider) and the Canada Revenue Agency's (CRA) My Account enrollment. Clients with an active CRA My Account will follow a rapid My VAC Account enrollment process, which provides the fastest service commensurate with security. New users will follow an enrollment process which provides them with My Account secure access to both VAC and CRA. What you need to know..... before you login!

Why do I need an epass to access My VAC Account?Your epass provides you with a unique electronic credential which is used to access the Government of Canada's on-line programs and services. These services employ enhanced security measures and secure electronic signatures to ensure the protection of your information. There are specific computer requirements in order to obtain an epass. Please review these requirements. Why do I need the CRA My Account? In order to ensure the security of personal information, many on-line transactions between Government and citizens require a rigorous identification process. The Government of Canada (GoC) has identified that adding an Account Activation process using a Security Code (mailed to the citizen's known address) provides that measure of secure identification. In order to save clients from having to obtain a different Security Code for each GoC federal department's on-line services, VAC has agreed to use the rigorous identification method established by the CRA to authenticate a client's identity. This process offers a shared activation solution by which citizens control the extent of identification sharing between government departments. How do I get the CRA My Account? In order to make the enrollment process as easy as possible, VAC will automatically redirect you to epass Canada. Once you have logged in with an existing epass or registered for a new epass, VAC will automatically redirect you to the CRA Web site to begin the enrollment process. After you have successfully enrolled for CRA My Account, you will need to return to the VAC Web site. To complete the My VAC Account enrollment process, click on the "Register/Login to My VAC Account" link at the top of this page and you will be guided through VAC's enrollment process.
