AMICUS is available with and without registration, in either case it is free of charge. The comparative table below highlights the differences between the two types of access.

AMICUS without registration

Search the entire database or the collection of Library and Archives Canada;
Use basic and advanced search techniques;
Sort your search results by author, title and date;
Save your search results to create a bibliography or a list;
E-mail your search results;
Locate which Canadian libraries have the items you need.

AMICUS with registration

You can register for the following free services at any time:

Personalize AMICUS; create a profile with your preferred indexes, displays, libraries, etc.
Order items via interlibrary loan (this is available to Canadian libraries only);
Display and download records in MARC format;
Search authorities;
Access the entire database using your local Z39.50 software.
