
Participation: Biography - Military
The Dictionary of Canadian biography (Toronto: Univ. of Toronto Press, 1966- ) and the Dictionnaire biographique du Canada([Québec]: Presses de l'Université Laval, 1966- ) provide authoritative biographies of persons deceased before 1921.
Among those who served in South Africa, many held more than one career. Some served in earlier conflicts, e.g. Col. Sam Steele in the Northwest Rebellion, later wars (First and Second World Wars) and in public life.
