Message from the Honourable Carol Skelton, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of Western Economic Diversification

The Canada Revenue Agency is pleased to participate in this special Government of Canada website to ensure a smooth implementation of the GST/HST rate reduction.

To help consumers and businesses adjust to the 1 percentage point tax reduction, this website explains how the tax cut will be implemented and outlines the transitional rules. It also contains a series of questions and answers on selected topics.

We hope you will find the GST/HST rate reduction information you require on this site useful. The CRA also has a dedicated information line to respond to questions from consumers and businesses across the country. You can call us on regular business days, from 8:15 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Our toll-free number is 1 866 959-7797. Quebec residents can contact the Ministère du Revenu du Québec at www.revenu.gouv.qc.ca or call 1 800 567-4692 for more information.
