Nicole Jauvin became
President of the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada on
September 5, 2006. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Jauvin served as the
Associate Clerk of the Privy Council for Senior Personnel since February 2006.
Previously, Ms. Jauvin was
the Deputy Minister of Social Development Canada (SDC). In this position, she
assumed leadership of the Department and supported the Minister in
strengthening the social foundations of society for all Canadians.
Ms. Jauvin was appointed Deputy Solicitor General of Canada on June 19,
2000. Her role was to provide leadership for the Department and to support the
Solicitor General of Canada in his responsibilities for the Royal Canadian
Mounted Police, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, the Correctional
Service of Canada, the National Parole Board, the Canadian Firearms Centre,
and other related review agencies.
A graduate of the
University of Ottawa, Ms. Jauvin holds a Licence in Civil Law and is a member
of the Québec Bar since 1983. She also holds a B.A. in Communications, a
Diploma in International Cooperation, and a Diploma of graduate studies in
Law. She has been a federal public servant since 1980, holding various
positions in the Department of the Solicitor General and the Privy Council
Office, where she was Deputy Clerk and Counsel and also worked in the areas of
Machinery of Government, Security and Intelligence, and Senior Personnel. She
also served as Vice-chair of the Public Management Committee of the
Organisation for the Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) from 1997 to
2000. Ms. Jauvin is also the current champion of the Federal Youth Network, a
grassroots national organization of regional federal public service youth
networks dedicated to public service renewal, leadership building, and giving
a voice to young public servants.
Ms. Jauvin is married to
Mr. William Baker and together they have six children. She speaks French,
English and Spanish fluently
