Objective of Course
This course will provide internal auditors with a hands-on approach to conducting internal audit assurance engagements in compliance with the Internal Auditing Standards for the Government of Canada and with the 2006 IA Policy, under the
supervision of a team leader.
This interactive course will encourage participants to "learn by doing" in a team-building environment. It will comprise lectures, class discussion, small group assignments, and participation in case studies.
Who should attend?
The course is intended for experienced internal auditors who are responsible for conductinginternal audit assurance engagements in compliance with the Internal Auditing Standards for the Government of Canada: establish objectives and scope;
develop appropriate criteria; design and implement methodology for exercising the criteria and compiling adequate evidence; develop the findings, conclusions, and recommendations; and report on results. Course participants should have a good knowledge of the overall audit process and
techniques and how internal audit works in the federal government, and a basic knowledge of the TB Internal Audit Policy and Standards and the IIA Code of Ethics and Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
The participants will have taken the TBS/IIA Internal Audit
Orientation Workshop or similar introductory training.
