(1) Except in the case of employees being paid in that part of the BI-1 scale of rates identified by ten-dollar ($10)
intermediate steps, an employee shall, on the relevant effective dates of adjustments to rates of pay, be paid in the
new scale of rates at the rate shown immediately below his former rate.
**
(2) An employee being paid in that part of the BI-1 scale of rates identified by ten-dollar ($10) intermediate steps
shall be paid:
(a) effective October 1, 2002 in the "A" scale of rates which is nearest to but not more than two point seven five per cent (2.75%) higher than his former rate of pay, rounded to the nearest ten dollars ($10);
(b) effective October 1, 2003 in the "B" scale of rates which is nearest to but not more than two point five per cent (2.5%) higher than his former rate of pay, rounded to the nearest ten dollars ($10);
(c) effective October 1, 2004 in the "C" scale of rates which is nearest to but not more than two point five per cent (2.5%) higher than his former rate of pay, rounded to the nearest ten dollars ($10).

(3) Effective October 1, 2002, prior to any other pay revision which occurs on that date, employees at levels BI-1 to
BI-5 shall be paid in the "X" scale of rates at the rate of pay which is immediately below the employee's former rate
of pay, or if there is no such rate, to the rate of pay in the "X" scale of rates which is closest to but not less than
the employee's former rate of pay.

(4) Effective October 1, 2002 employees at BI-1 to BI-5 shall be paid in the "Y" scale of rates at the rate of pay
which is immediately below the employee's rate of pay in the "X" scale of rates, or if there is no such rate, to the
rate of pay in the "Y" scale of rates which is closest to but not less than the employee's rate of pay in the "X" scale
of rates.

(5) Employees at levels BI-1 to BI-5 who have been at the maximum rate of pay for their level for twelve (12) months or
more on October 1, 2002, will move to the new maximum rate of pay effective October 1, 2002.
**
(6) Effective October 1, 2002 employees at level BI-3 shall be paid in the "A" scale of rates at the rate of pay which
is immediately below the employee's rate of pay in the "Y" scale of rates, or if there is no such rate, to the next
higher rate of pay in the "A" scale of rates.

(1) Effective October 1, 2002, prior to any other pay revision which occurs on that date, employees at levels CH-1 to
CH-5 shall be paid in the "X" scale of rates at the rate of pay which is closest to but not less than the employee's
former rate of pay.
**
(2) Effective October 1, 2002 employees at levels CH-1 to CH-5 shall be paid in the "Y" scale of rates at the rate of
pay which is immediately below the employee's rate of pay in the "X" scale of rates, or if there is no such rate, to
the rate of pay in the "Y" scale of rates which is closest to but not less than the employee's rate of pay in the "X"
scale of rates.

(3) Employees at levels CH-2 to CH-5 who have been at the maximum rate of pay for their level for twelve (12) months or
more on October 1, 2002, will move to the new maximum rate of pay effective October 1, 2002.
**
(4) Employees at level CH-1 who have been at the maximum rate of pay for their level for twelve (12) months or more on
October 1, 2002, will move to the next increment in the new scale of rates of pay effective October 1, 2002.
**
(5) Effective October 1, 2002 employees at level CH-3 shall be paid in the "A" scale of rates at the rate of pay which
is immediately below the employee's rate of pay in the "Y" scale of rates, or if there is no such rate, to the next
higher rate of pay in the "A" scale of rates.
**
(7) The pay increment period for full-time employees in the CH-1 scale of rates identified by ten-dollar ($10)
intermediate steps is six (6) months and the minimum pay increment shall be three hundred dollars ($300) or such higher
amount that the Employer may determine, or such lesser amount that brings the employee's rate to the maximum of the pay
range. For the purposes of transfer and promotion, the lowest pay increment is three hundred dollars ($300).
**
(9) For the purposes of administering pay notes 4 and 5, the pay increment date for an employee, appointed on or after
March 20, 1981, to a position in the bargaining unit upon promotion, demotion or from outside the Public Service, shall
be the anniversary date of such appointment. The anniversary date for an employee who was appointed to a position in
the bargaining unit prior to March 20, 1981 remains unchanged.

(14) An employee being paid in that part of the CH-1 scale of rates identified by ten-dollar ($10) intermediate steps
shall be paid:
(a) effective October 1, 2002 in the "A" scale of rates which is nearest to but not more than two point seven five per cent (2.75%) higher than his former rate of pay, rounded to the nearest ten dollars ($10);
(b) effective October 1, 2003 in the "B" scale of rates which is nearest to but not more than two point five per cent (2.5%) higher than his former rate of pay, rounded to the nearest ten dollars ($10);
(c) effective October 1, 2004 in the "C" scale of rates which is nearest to but not more than two point five per cent (2.5%) higher than his former rate of pay, rounded to the nearest ten dollars ($10).
