Important Information

This is to advise you of the proposed procurement arrangements for accessibility testing to be implemented April 1, 2003. As you may be aware, the Web Accessibility Testing Services (WATS) have been contracted by the Treasury Board Secretariat and made available to departments and agencies for the last three years.

As of April 1, 2003, departments and agencies may procure their own accessibility testing services through PWGSC's Informatics Professional Services (IPS) Marketplace, or use the regular contracting services of their department / agency.

The PWGSC Informatics Professional Services Marketplace provides for:

  1. Flexibility in the selection of a testing service provider based on the individual requirements of the department / agency
  2. Flexibility in the level (degree) of accessibility testing required by the department / agency
  3. Flexibility with the timing of testing to meet the specific needs of the department / agency
  4. Flexibility of web services to be tested (Internet / Intranet / Extranet)
  5. Flexibility with the duration of a contract with a service provider ranging from 1 day to a maximum of 100 days over a 12 month period

Departments / agencies are required to self-register in order to obtain access to the PWGSC procurement tool. Registration is completed through the IPS Web site under Info for Federal Departments.
