We're very pleased to announce that Evergreen is one of the 12 finalists to receive proceeds from The Citizens Bank Shared Interest awards program so if you are a Citizens Bank member or VISA cardholder please take a moment between December 1st and January 31, 2007 to vote for Evergreen. In the end, member votes get pooled with everyone else who participates and the money is divided among the 12 short-listed organizations based on the percentage of votes each finalist receives. Grounds for Action: New research report by Learning Grounds
What does school ground greening have to do with getting kids more active? Lots, according to new research just published by Learning Grounds. In Grounds for Action, authors Anne Bell and Janet Dyment present convincing evidence that green school grounds create tremendous opportunities for children of all ages, interests and abilities to jump, climb, dig, lift, run and generally get moving. Funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, the research argues that greening can play a key role in the battle against obesity and inactivity in children. >>
