Emergencies

Transport Canada plays a key role in responding to emergencies and crises when they occur. The department also helps prevent emergencies through its emergency preparedness activities and by improving the security of the transportation system.

In the event of an incident involving dangerous goods, CANUTEC, Transport Canada's Canadian Transport Emergency Centre can assist emergency response personnel. CANUTEC personnel are also available to provide general information about the transportation of dangerous goods.
