Welcome to Environment Canada's
Media Weather Portal

OTTAWA - February 17, 2006 - Environment Canada's dedicated and free weather service for Canadian news media has been updated to meet the ever changing needs of Canadian media. The Media Weather Portal gives you a personalized service with timely access to quality and up-to-date weather information including weather warnings issued for the cities you have selected.

With information automatically refreshed, this service enables you to receive data tailored to your needs directly from the Meteorological Service of Canada. It offers independent media-only access ensuring media continuous, uninterrupted real-time access to their weather information.

The Media Weather Portal's features include 24/7: weather alerts; current conditions; public forecasts; satellite, radar and lightning imagery; marine forecasts and ice information. Media Weather warnings use Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) warning protocols.

How Do I Start?

All you need to do, is contact your Regional Media Rep listed under contacts, and they will work with you to set-up your media weather portal account.

  • You choose the content of the product buttons on your page
  • Special weather warning pop-up
