Environment Canada’s Top 10 Weather Stories for 2005 Coming December 29th

TORONTO, December 22, 2005 — David Phillips, Environment Canada’s senior climatologist, will release his list of the Top Ten Weather Stories for 2005 on December 29. Now in its tenth year, the list chronicles wild and wacky Canadian weather. This year’s list highlights some of the costliest severe weather events to have occurred in Canada including major flooding for many parts of the country. The list also includes the active hurricane season in the Atlantic, the long lasting summer of heat, humidity and smog in Ontario and Quebec, a week of snow storms in Atlantic Canada while in mid-January snow fans in BC lamented the lack of "white gold" with record breaking mild and warm weather.

The Top Ten Weather Stories will be posted on Environment Canada’s website December 29, 2005 by 9:00 a.m. and available at: http://www.msc.ec.gc.ca/media/top10/.
