School Calendar for the 2006-2007 School Year
Supersedes Minister's Directive No. 2006-01
Pursuant to section 8 and clause 7(1)(g) of the School Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap.
S-2-1, I hereby issue the following Minister’s Directive concerning the School Calendar for the
2006-2007 school year:
September (20 School Days) (19 Instructional Days)
- 1 School Based Professional Development Day/Orientation Day for Teachers
- 4 Labour Day
- 5 First Instructional Day
October (21 School Days) (19 Instructional Days)
- 9 Thanksgiving
- 19-20 PEITF Annual Convention/CUPE Annual Convention
November (21 School Days) (20 Instructional Days)
- 10 Professional Development Day
- 13 Remembrance Day
December (16 School Days) (16 Instructional Days)
- 22 Last Day of Classes, 2006
January (18 School Days) (17 Instructional Days)
- 8 Professional Development Day
- 9 First Instructional Day
February (20 School Days) (19 Instructional Days)
- 2 End of Semester Administration/Professional Development Day
March (17 School Days) (17 Instructional Days)
- 19-23 March Break
April (19 School Days) (19 Instructional Days)
- 6 Good Friday
- 9 Easter Monday
May (22 School Days) (21 Instructional Days)
- 4 Area Association Professional Development Day/CUPE 3260 Annual Convention

June (21 School Days) (18 Instructional Days)
- 11 First day on which examinations for grade 12 students may be scheduled
- 13 First day on which examinations for grade 10-11 students may be scheduled
- 18 First day on which examinations for grade 9 students may be scheduled
- 19 Last day for senior high graduating students
- 20 First day for grade 12 graduation ceremonies
- 25 First day for elementary and intermediate closing ceremonies
- 26 Last instructional day. Report cards for grades 1-11
- 29 Last day for teachers
For the year 2006-2007, School Board/District Superintendents may allow
variations for the first day of grade 9 examinations in extenuating circumstances.
