Information Management Community Recognition Award 2006

Call for Nominations

The purpose of this notice is to invite you to submit nominations for the "Information Management Community Recognition Award".

Objective: This award was established by the Information Management Champions Committee in 2004 to acknowledge and honour excellence in shareable IM practices and leadership; and to uncover, recognize and share these exemplary practices.

The accomplishments of the IM community in enabling the management of information within the federal government have been critical in supporting the broader Government of Canada agenda.  The IM Community Recognition Award will show recognition for a cohesive community that comprises a variety of related disciplines; creates work/tools that can be shared and re-used; acknowledges innovation and leadership in IM; collaborates on joint initiatives; and reinforces community support and motivation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Federal government employees, Public Service Staff Relations Act Schedule 1, IV and V.
  • This award is targeted at IM Practitioners / Specialists and Leaders.
  • Nominations can come from peers, supervisors, clients or partners.
  • Nominees can be individuals or a group of individuals.
  • Project/Initiative need to be completed or it needs to be a work in progress with significant measurable portion

Assessment Criteria:

Nominations will be broadly assessed under these 3 categories:

  1. Leadership at all levels
    • Recognizes the extraordinary achievements and/or effort of individuals who, with a combination o f human qualities and exceptional skill, have exemplified outstanding leadership in the pursuit of performance excellence.
    • The achievements and/or efforts will have had an impact in the IM Domain at either the departmental or public service level.
  2. Community building
    • Recognizes individuals/teams who through their ongoing commitment work together with others to address critical IM community issues by exhibiting cooperative and collaborative approaches and/or setting up partnerships.
  3. Shareable business improvement
    • Recognizes individuals/teams that had have a positive and sustainable impact on the IM domain as a result of their efforts through the creation of tools, programs and/or services.
  4. Note: More than one award may be presented if equally meritorious nominations are received

    Nomination Procedure:

    • "for the people, by the people" (nomination from peers, supervisors, clients, partners or supervised staff)
    • up to 250 word description responding to the chosen assessment criteria (ie. A, B or C see above)
    • Nominations can be faxed or electronically submitted using the attached nomination form.  Supporting documents/links may be included with the submission.

    Important Dates:

    • Closure of nominations: June 23, 2006
    • Award(s) presentation: Information Management week, October, 2006 - date to be confirmed.
