The drawing room was used by the Lauriers and later by William Lyon Mackenzie King for formal entertaining. During the Laurier period, there was a doorway that led directly into the dining room, originally covered by curtains, then by leaded glass panelled doors. During King’s renovations this doorway was closed. Photos from a 1904 magazine article show the drawing room furnished in an eclectic style, in shades of green, rose and ecru. Later furnishings were more opulent; some which are now on display in the first Laurier room on the second floor of the house.
