Ottawa, November 16, 2004 - Library and Archives Canada is pleased to announce that the winners of this year's Governor General's Literary Awards will be reading excerpts from their works at an event to be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2004.

The Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading, presented in cooperation with the Canada Council for the Arts and sponsored by Thomson Gale, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street in Ottawa. The masters of ceremonies for the evening will be Ken Rockburn, host of CPAC's Talk Politics and Mélanie Riendeau of Première Chaîne, Radio-Canada. The readings, in both English and French, will be followed by an autographing session.

"On behalf of Library and Archives Canada I would like to congratulate this year's winners of the Governor General's Literary Awards," said Ian E. Wilson, Librarian and Archivist of Canada. "This event will provide us with the opportunity to experience and celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of these gifted Canadians."
