Library and Archives Canada Presents
The Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading 2006

(Ottawa, November 21, 2006) - Library and Archives Canada is proud to welcome this year's Governor General's Literary Award winners for an evening of celebration and to participate in a public reading of their works. The Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading 2006, presented in cooperation with the Canada Council for the Arts, will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 7 p.m., in the auditorium of Library and Archives Canada, at 395 Wellington Street, in Ottawa.

The masters of ceremonies for the evening will be Adrian Harewood, host of CBC Radio One's All in a Day and Mélanie Riendeau, Arts reporter of La Première Chaîne, Radio-Canada.

"This evening's literary event in honour of these gifted Canadian writers, translators and illustrators provides the opportunity for all to share in their talent," said Ian E. Wilson, Librarian and Archivist of Canada. "Library and Archives Canada congratulates the winners, and invites the public to join us to experience their works first hand."

Admission to the Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading is free of charge. The Reading, in English and in French, will be followed by an autographing session.

Library and Archives Canada, whose primary mandate is to collect, preserve and make known Canada's rich documentary heritage, promotes excellence in Canadian literature. The Governor General's Literary Award Winners Reading is one of the highlights of its literary programs.
