With the installation of Canadian War Artists in the virtual gallery of the National Archives of Canada, the exhibition Canvas of War: Masterpieces from the Canadian War Museum, is complete. Canvas of War will be shown at the Museum of Civilization from February 10, 2000 until January 7, 2001.

Canadian War Artists brings together the portraits of eighteen Canadian war artists who painted during the Second World War. These portraits, from the collections of the National Archives of Canada are displayed in alphabetical order and are accompanied by short biographies provided by personnel at the Canadian War Museum. This authorized text was taken from A Checklist of the War Collections of World War I, 1914-1918, and World War II, 1939-1945 by R. F. Wodehouse (National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, 1968).
