Veterans O. C. [Oscar C.?] Keenan and John Uprichard talk about their experiences with the 8th Canadian Infantry Battalion during World War I. They recall the Second Battle of Ypres where "the Germans came over in waves." Also discussed are some of the Canadian officers including Brigadier-General Arthur Currie, Sir Edwin Alderson and Brigadier-General Louis Lipsett. At the battle of Amiens, they talk about the "flying columns" and the enemy machine guns infesting Hatchet Woods. Turning to the occupation army in Germany, one of the veterans recalls being billeted in a German home whose elderly owner had lost six sons in the German army. "She cried all the time."
