Library and Archives Canada is proud to present this selection of photographs, which depicts a few of the many women of Asian descent who call Canada home. Women from three cultural communities Japanese Canadians, Indian Canadians and Chinese Canadians are represented. The images offer a glimpse into the varied experiences and rich contributions of Asian-Canadian women to Canada's cultural heritage and multicultural society.

An exhibition of portraits is presented in recognition of Quebec artists, from all disciplines, who have made exceptional contributions to Quebec culture. The artists and groups highlighted are André Brassard, Gilles Carle, Ludmilla Chiriaeff, le Cirque du Soleil, Leonard Cohen, Yvon Deschamps, Céline Dion, Maureen Forrester, Gratien Gélinas, Oliver Jones, Jean Paul Lemieux, Édouard Lock, Louise Lecavalier, Guy Mauffette, Norman McLaren, Alanis Obomsawin, Denise Pelletier, Jean-Paul Riopelle and Michel Tremblay.

Literary Landscapes of French Canada

Journey across Canada through the works and archival documents of Francophone authors from New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, western Canada and the Northwest Territories. Actual places inspire these writers, and through the magic of their words, they create settings that take on symbolic or mythic qualities. Examine archival documents-manuscripts, annotated typescripts, personal diaries and photographs--to embark on a journey into their world.

The 'Blue Fire' of the Republic of Cameroon and her six-member band is back for the third time. They appear along with local artists in a musical and cultural celebration of drumming, dancing, singing, rapping, and fashions of Africa.
Sponsored by the National Council of Guyanese, and co-sponsored by CHUO-FM and CKCU-FM, proceeds go to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana School Uniforms project. Refreshments provided.

The Friends of the City of Ottawa Archives present John D. Reid who will lecture on "The Ottawa Sharpshooters: The Company and Some of Its Remarkable Men, circa 1885." This presentation will focus on some of the 52 Ottawa militiamen who served their country by suppressing the provisional government declared by Louis Riel.
David B. Knight is a retired professor and is the author of many books, including A Capital for Canada and Choosing Canada's Capital.

For 100 years, the Union United Church has been synonymous with black Canadian history. Today, this Montréal church remains a spiritual and cultural haven.
The film 100 Years of Faith is produced by actor/writer/director Anthony Sherwood, a former Montréal resident. This is the Ottawa premiere and is part of the Quebec Scene festival.
