Dewey 22

Library and Archives Canada will be implementing the Dewey Decimal Classification edition 22 on January 5, 2004. As of that date, bibliographic records created by Library and Archives Canada will contain fields 082 with 22 instead of 21 in subfield $2. Abridged Dewey numbers will be assigned from edition 14 as of March 1, 2004.

Since the Library of Congress is implementing Dewey 22 on July 1, 2003, records derived by Library and Archives Canada from the Library of Congress may contain Dewey 22 numbers which will appear in Library and Archives Canada's products and services prior to its January 5th implementation date.
