BIOGRAPHY/ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY:

George Brown, journalist and statesman, was co-founder and editor of the Toronto Globe. He sat in the Legislative Assembly of Canada from 1851 to 1857, and was one of the leaders of the Reform Party in Upper Canada. He was appointed to the Senate in 1873.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:

Fonds consists of correspondence, commissions, addresses, draft speeches and articles, poll books, and accounts, 1837-1840, 1.09 m; and a letter from George Brown to Wm. B. Richard, 1844, photocopies, 4 pages.
