Welcome to "The EvidenceWeb", an educational project meant to help you learn more about primary sources held at Library and Archives Canada. You will find a wide selection of documents -- texts, photographs, maps, newspaper clippings and much more. All the sources featured on "The EvidenceWeb" are linked to specific themes in Canadian history or culture.
To start your search, please select one of the suggested themes on the left-hand menu. (You can also search by place, theme, time, format, or original language.) Once you have selected a theme, you will be able to choose from a series of thumbnail images that will help you discover the why, what, where and how of a specific Canadian event or person or give you a peek at an era of Canada's past. Explore and enjoy!
This website will evolve and grow as new themes, images and descriptions of primary sources are added. Please send us your suggestions and comments. Let us know how you think we can improve the site and what sources and themes you would like to see. You can contact us at education@lac-bac.gc.ca.
Within the site, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view enlarged images, as well as transcripts and translations of documents.
