This virtual exhibition presents the complete Codex canadiensis of Louis Nicolas. Visitors may browse the rare document page by page thanks to a virtual page-turning function. Although the material contained in the Codex canadiensis is of great value to many academic fields, the accompanying interpretive material has been created for a general audience.

Dedication

This site is dedicated to the memory of Sarah Erwin, longtime collections manager of the Gilcrease Museum, expert on the Gilcrease collection and friend of Library and Archives Canada (LAC).

The availablity of this document to the public was very important to Sarah Erwin. LAC had worked closely with her on a project that was particularly dear to her -- the digitization of the Codex canadiensis, and its inclusion in this Web exhibition. Her guidance during the planning stages was much appreciated.

We hope that this virtual exhibition helps to continue Sarah Erwin's work and to celebrate her legacy.
