Student Handout - Activity 2

Getting Down to Research

Name(s): ___________________ Date: ______________

Graphical element: Jacques LeCastor

It is time to learn more about one of the settlement groups in early Canada. Use a KWL organizer (What I know, What I would like to know, What I learned) to help you.

  • Before you start your research write down what you already know about the settlement group in the first column.

  • In the second column write down some questions that you think might help you find out more. Think of the 5Ws and How.

  • Now read the text and study the pictures on The Kids' Site of Canadian Settlement to find answers to your questions. Write your answers in the third column.
