HIGHLIGHTS: Women Photographers

Pearl Samment and Elyse Gagnon

The work of women photographers like Pearl Sammett and Elyse Gagnon is featured in the WRM series, although little information is known about them. Women who served as war photographers and artists in the war added an interesting and unique perspective on both the war effort and the effects of war. For example, some of the more intimate depictions of women in the dormitories or preparing for evenings out may be the work of female photographers.
