The Day it Rained Geese
On April 22, 1932 it rained geese in Elgin, Manitoba. The hapless flock had been flying overhead on their way to their summer nesting grounds when they got caught in an electrical storm. Struck by lightning, 52 geese fell from the sky onto the small town. Their goose was cooked! There was no point in letting the birds go to waste. The townspeople gathered them up and served them on dinner tables throughout the town.
