George Hodgson
Flight Sub-Lieutenant George R. Hodgson, Royal Naval Air Service, ca. 1915-1916, by H. Scott Orr

George Hodgson (1893-1983) was the first Canadian to win two gold medals at an Olympic Games: the 400-metre and 1,500-metre swimming races at the 1912 Stockholm Games. During these games, he also established four world record times for various distances. Serving as an officer of the British Royal Naval Air Service during the First World War, he received medals for his heroic performance in water, this time for rescues made at sea.
