With wins in the 100- and 200-metre races at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, Percy Williams (1908-1982) could claim the title of the fastest man on earth. Williams defended this title by winning 21 of 22 indoor races in the United States the following year, and establishing a world record of 10.3 seconds for the 100-metres in 1930. Phil Edwards (1907-1971) is Canada’s most decorated Olympian with five bronze medals won over three Olympics from 1928 to 1936 on track distances of 400, 800 and 1,500 metres.
