Types of Membership

Your institution's type of membership within Virtual Reference Canada depends on your resources, collection strengths, hours and staff availability for VRC participation, as well as other relevant factors. Upon joining VRC, you will be invited to select a type that best suits your institution's needs and capabilities from among the following :

	Asking member institution: a member only submitting questions to the service.
	Asking and answering member institution: a member submitting questions, and answering a specified number of questions per month.
	Answering member institution: a member answering a specified number of questions per month.
	On-call member institution: a member called upon to manually assign a question to a specific member institution should the matching algorithm originally fail to properly route it. This might happen if, for instance, the question was not appropriately coded. The on-call member will also be asked to answer questions in specific instances and resolve issues dealing with "problem" questions.
