Nancy Drolet was born in Drummondville, Quebec in 1973. She has been playing hockey for 20 years and her career has followed an impressive path. The terms "pioneering", "persevering" and "determined" very naturally come to mind when analyzing her career as a hockey player.
In short, she has won the Women's World Hockey Championships many times, the Nations Cup, as well as a silver medal at the Nagano Olympic Games.
Nancy Drolet has been a World Champion three times. She had a hat trick during Canada's conquest of the World Championship in Kitchener in 1997. Her third goal put a dramatic end to the overtime game against the United States. Drolet was also a silver medallist in softball at the Pan-American Games in 1991, in Cuba, and participated in the Canada Winter Games for hockey in 1991 and for softball in the summer of 1989.
Nancy Drolet has been a member of the National Hockey Team since 1992. She is part of the Jofa Titan Team (Repentigny, Quebec) and plays forward.
Nancy is an orthotherapist and a massage therapist in her hometown. In order to encourage girls to follow their dream of playing hockey, she founded her own hockey school in 1999. Drolet believes that in addition to technique, hockey fosters discipline and respect for others. That is why she and her teammates do not hesitate to take on the role of spokespersons for their sport during promotional activities for young girls.
With 15 Canadian Championships and two Canada Games in nine years, her record is impressive. She has won five gold medals and one silver medal in six years at international tournaments. She is also an Olympic medallist.
In her individual record, she can boast about having been named Athlete of the Year by the Canadian Sports Council in 1992 and named Outstanding Player at the Senior Canadian Championships in 1994.
For Nancy Drolet, the honours follow the accomplishments. She is an inspiring figure for today's young athletes in any sport. The success, of Nancy and the National Hockey Team, has given women's hockey its credentials, acquired at the cost of hard work.
