Important Information for Netscape Users

For best results searching the Virtual Gramophone database, use Netscape Communicator 4.0. If searching the database with Netscape Navigator 3.0 or below, it has been noted that the initial search will "hang", that is, the search connection will not be properly made. This is a problem with earlier versions of Netscape browsers, not with the Virtual Gramophone database. To overcome this browser limitation, follow the directions given below.

Input search

Click on the search button and wait a second or two

Click on the stop button in your Netscape browser

Re-click on the search button

This should execute the search query properly. If after this the connection is still "hanging," please be sure to click on the "stop" button in Netscape. If this is not done, it causes stress to the Virtual Gramophone database system and presents difficulties for others using the database application.
