MURRAY KIMBER MURRAY KIMBER

Place of birth: Lethbridge, Alberta
Place of residence: Calgary, Alberta

Interested in drawing from an early age, Murray Kimber dreamed of becoming a comic-book illustrator. He enrolled in fine arts at the University of Calgary in 1984, and after a year, moved to visual communications at the Alberta College of Art. At art school he learned more about the great masters and developed an interest in oil painting. Since graduation his works have appeared in major advertising campaigns and in such publications as Time and Saturday Night. His paintings have been exhibited in galleries and have been sold to private individuals as well as for public display. At the exhibition for Josepha, his first picture book, all 16 originals were sold. Mr. Kimber teaches drawing and media exploration in the Design Division at the Alberta College of Art and lives and paints in his studio/warehouse in Calgary.
