Biographical card of John Macoun, THE COLLECTOR. The text reads as follows: Born April 17, 1831 in Northern Ireland. Died July 18, 1920 in Sidney, British Columbia. Joined the Geological Survey of Canada at age 50. Worked at the Geological Survey for 31 years. Strength: excellent at spotting new species in the wilderness and gathering lots of specimens. Weakness: not so good at organizing and preserving the specimens! Hobbies: collecting. Claim to fame: gathered enormous collections (including more than 100,000 plant specimens) that are now found in some of Canada?s national museums. Star Power: 1 star
