Finding Fossils and Digging Dinosaurs

What is a Fossil?

A fossil is the remains of an animal or plant that lived long ago.

How is it Formed?

Plants and animals can also leave only a print of where they once lay, or even footprints of where they once walked. Sand buries them and then becomes very hard, and the animal or plant rots away leaving only a print of itself. Animals and plants can also get trapped and preserved in tree sap (amber), tar or ice.
