These were the great leaders who led teams of surveyors and geologists through Canada's wilderness examining the rocks and land, recording their findings and mapping the country. The knowledge, information and specimens that they collected continue to benefit us today. We can still view their collections in Ottawa's national museums. There are mountains, rivers and towns named after GSC "rock stars." Today's GSC scientists are studying things like climate change and helping us to understand earthquakes and landslides to help us live safer lives.
