What's in a Song?

Student Handout

Music is more than just nice sounds -- it is something that reaches into us and makes us feel many things. Often, you can tell what the songwriter was trying to say by how the music feels. Try answering these questions about your music.

  Name:

1. What is the name of the song?

2. What instruments and sound effects can you hear?

3. What is this song about?

4. How can you tell?

5. How does the song make you feel? Write down as many words that you can think of.

6. Is it a happy or a sad song?

7. Why do you think it is happy (or sad)?

8. Did you like the song? Why, or why not?
