Storyboard

To remember is one thing. To write a story is quite another thing! Nothing is decided ahead of time. The main characters can wander around in almost all the pages but they should not do the same thing all the time. They shouldn't always be in the same position, either. To imagine the whole book, illustrators usually create sketches before making the real pictures. Then they put them beside each other to see how the story will flow. This is called a storyboard.

In the picture on the first page, Jojo is placed very close. She looks as if she were on television. The frame of the screen prevents you from seeing what's around Jojo. In the second picture, there are many things on the table and Pichou is there. The third picture is like a double portrait of Jojo and Pichou. It looks like those little pictures that you take in photo booths at the mall.

Keep looking to see if the other drawings show Jojo up close or far away…
