Welcome to my Web Site!

Mary Jane Maffini I am the author of three mystery series. The Camilla MacPhee mysteries, feature feisty Ottawa sleuth Camilla MacPhee and her interfering friends and family. The Fiona Silk books (well, soon to be two) focus on a failed romance writer and would be novelist and are set in West Quebec. My latest, the first Charlotte Adams mystery, takes place in New York State, about two hours north of NYC.

It's been quite a year Chez Maffini. So busy that apparently the dog ate my Web Site or perhaps I just got behind. However, here's a summary of news: Spring 2006 was hectic and wonderful with Malice Domestic, followed by Bloody Words and Book Expo Canada in Toronto. I always enjoy Bloody Words, but this one was special for me as I was the Canadian Guest of Honour. The International Guest of Honour, Stuart Kaminsky, was a joy to meet. Not only the author of four series and many television shows, but also a gifted raconteur and a very pleasant fellow.

Mary Jane Maffini I was very surprised to receive the Derrick Murdoch award from Crime Writers of Canada. This would have been a bit more glamorous if I hadn't lost my silver high-heeled slipper on the way down from the stage. Oh well, it was just in front of my 120 closest friends.

Toronto-based Thump Entertainment has optioned the Camilla MacPhee characters. Plans are underway to have Camilla and some of the gang in a made-for-TV-movie. Stay tuned for details as they become available. Finally, The Dead Don't Get Out Much was nominated for a Barry Award for Best Paperback Original. The Barry is presented by Deadly Pleasures magazine. I was thrilled to be nominated.

And in late breaking news, this member of The Ladies Killing Circle is pleased to tell you there will be a new anthology, Going Out With A Bang in 2008.
